Garden Plans

So I went on Better Homes & Gardens website, hoping to find some structure for the gardens I am dreaming up.  I found a few plans that I liked, but not 100%, which means I’ll be switching in a few flowers here and there, and probably adding more grasses since I just cannot get enough of them! So breezy and full, they are so nice to watch! I wish I could just fill all the empty spaces with lavender, grasses, and tulips and it would look awesome—- but it really wouldn’t.

Lavender

“Lavender fills the early-summer garden with sensory delights: beautiful purple-tone blooms atop foliage that oozes fragrance on a sunny afternoon. Every part of the plant is infused with aromatic oil, making this a choice herb to place along pathways or near outdoor seating areas so you can savor the fragrance. Lavender varieties abound: The darker the flower, the more intense the aroma — and the flavor in cooking.

Drought-, heat-, and wind-tolerant, lavender doesn’t like poor drainage, waterlogged soil, or high humidity. Raised beds can enhance drainage; surrounding plants with a gravel mulch can help increase heat around roots. After flowering, shear plants to induce bushiness and subsequent bloom. Avoid cutting plants back to the ground. Dried blooms retain fragrance for a long time; crush dried flowers to release aromatic oils anew.”

Unfortunately, I can’t grab and paste images on their website, so no fun previews, you’ll have to click on the link 🙂

Fall Deckside Garden Plan: I would probably add in a few bulbs here and there between the plants so there was some spring time color as well!

Touch of Prarie: Lots of grasses! And lavender! YAY 🙂

Tough-As-Nails Easy Perrenial Garden: Less watering is always a great thing!

I think garden plans are great, but I’ve never utilized one before now.  Since I just want to grab lots of bulbs that are pretty, I never really pay attention to what I’m doing, I just dig them and plant them… This spring will involve lots of planning so our house and yard look well put together 🙂
